Conversion rate optimization (CRO)

Conversion rate optimization is the practice of increasing the share of visitors who take the action you want — buy, sign up, enquire — by improving the page rather than buying more traffic. It's making the traffic you already have worth more.

Conversion rate optimization (CRO) is the practice of raising the percentage of visitors who do what you want them to — purchase, sign up, book, enquire — by improving the experience rather than pouring more money into ads. If a page turns 2% of visitors into leads instead of 1%, you’ve doubled results from the same traffic.

It’s less about clever tricks than about removing friction and confusion: a clearer value proposition, an obvious next step, fewer form fields, honest answers to the doubts people actually have, and a fast page that doesn’t test their patience. Serious CRO tests changes against real behaviour instead of trusting opinions, because what converts is often not what looks nicest in a review.

Most of the leverage lives in the copy and the landing page structure.

Quick recall

What is CRO? Increasing the share of visitors who take a desired action by improving the page, not buying more traffic.

Why does it matter? It makes the traffic you already have more valuable — often cheaper than acquiring more.

What actually moves it? Clearer value, less friction, fewer form fields, faster pages, and testing against real behaviour.
