Brand strategy
Brand strategy is the plan for what a company stands for, who it's for, and how it shows up, decided before any logo or website is designed. It's the thinking that makes every later design choice defensible.
Brand strategy is the plan for what a company stands for, who it’s for, and how it shows up. It’s decided before anyone opens a design tool, because every visual choice later — the logo, the colour, the words — should trace back to a decision the strategy already made.
Without it, design becomes taste versus taste: the client likes blue, the designer likes green, and nobody can say who’s right. With it, the question changes to whether a choice serves the strategy, which is answerable.
We treat it as the first phase of the work, not a document that sits in a drawer. It starts in founder sessions, gets sharp in positioning, and only then turns into an identity you can see. The full arc is in how we build a brand.
Quick recall
What is brand strategy? The plan for what a company stands for, who it’s for, and how it shows up — set before any design.
Why does it come first? So design choices can be judged against a goal instead of personal taste.
Where does it live? In positioning and messaging, then carried into the identity and the website.
